Description

  • The Coordinator, Educational and Scholarly Initiatives supports the planning, coordination, and implementation of curricular, co-curricular, and scholarly programs for medical students. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Student Support and Advising, this position coordinates key operational components of educational programs, including program administration, faculty and student communications, educational technology, event logistics, and related activities. The Coordinator exercises independent judgment in organizing multiple priorities and collaborating with students, faculty, physicians, administrators, and institutional partners to support educational initiatives. A flexible work schedule, including some early mornings and late evenings, may be required to support student programming and events.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates the day-to-day administration and logistics of assigned co-curricular, and scholarly programs, including scheduling, communications, registration, materials, and participant tracking.
  • Coordinates educational programs and events involving students, faculty, physicians, and institutional partners, including room reservations, catering, audiovisual needs, virtual meetings, and day-of-event support.
  • Provides administrative and logistical support for medical student scholarly activities, including program communications, records management, educational events, and related initiatives.
  • Coordinates annual student presentations, including submissions, participant communications, scheduling, event logistics, and presentation materials.
  • Maintains assigned Canvas courses and other educational technology platforms, including enrollments, materials, announcements, and registration systems.
  • Maintains program records and assists with tracking participation, evaluation data, program outcomes, and other information used for assessment and continuous improvement.
  • Processes purchasing, payment, reimbursement, supply, and other administrative documentation associated with assigned programs.
  • Collaborates with faculty, staff, and institutional partners to facilitate educational initiatives; assists with special projects, process improvements, and other School of Medicine activities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Minimum three years of progressively responsible administrative, program coordination, or higher education experience.

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple projects and competing priorities with minimal supervision.

  • Possess excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, solve problems, and maintain confidentiality.

  • Ability to establish collaborative working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and institutional partners.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and ability to learn new technology platforms.

  • A flexible work schedule, including some early mornings and late evenings, may be required to support student programming and events.

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in medical education, higher education, or student affairs.

  • Experience coordinating educational, student, or academic programs.

  • Experience with educational technologies or learning management systems.

  • Experience with event coordination, data tracking, assessment, or program evaluation.

Salary/Salary Range $61,000-$63,500

Hofstra University provides the above salary as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
