About the Role Volt is immediately hiring a Cooling Systems Technician in Chillicothe, IL to support a metallurgical testing laboratory. The role involves shop-floor machinist work including saw cutting, grinding, polishing, leak testing, and reading blueprints. The position requires attention to detail and a quality-oriented mindset, and the candidate must be comfortable working with a team, following written instructions, and communicating with supervisors and engineers. Flexibility for weekends and overtime, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic report writing are required. What You'll Do
- Perform shop-floor tasks such as saw cutting, grinding, polishing, leak testing, and other machinist duties.
- Read and follow written instructions and blueprints; ensure quality and accuracy.
- Operate equipment including abrasive cut-off saws, surface grinders, large band saws, microscopes, leak testing equipment, and overhead cranes.
- Collaborate with a metallurgical testing laboratory team and communicate with supervisors and engineers.
- Be team-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work weekends and overtime as needed.
- Maintain documentation and basic reports using Microsoft Office. What We're Looking For
- Experience in a shop-floor environment performing saw cutting, grinding, polishing, leak testing, and other machinist work.
- Ability to read blueprints and follow written instructions.
- Detail-oriented and quality-focused mindset.
- Strong communication skills to interact with all levels in a professional lab environment, including supervisors and engineers.
- Team-oriented, self-motivated, and flexible to weekends and overtime.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic report writing. Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Rate: $21-$25 per hour (USD).
