About the Role CAPBM is seeking a Cook Substitute to support Head Start meals for children birth to five, following CACFP Meal Pattern Guidelines and maintaining safe, sanitary kitchen practices. This part-time position in Laconia, NH offers up to 20 hours per week with a Monday–Friday schedule to support nutritious meals in the early childhood program. What You'll Do
- Prepare meals based on a created menu according to CACFP Meal Pattern Guidelines for children birth to five years old.
- Maintain safe and sanitary food practices in accordance with state and local requirements as well as Serv Safe Manager Level practices.
- Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen, refrigerator, freezers, stoves and ovens.
- Collaborate with Head Start staff to support program goals and foster positive early childhood experiences for families.
- Assist with quantity food purchasing as needed. What We're Looking For
- Education: High School diploma or equivalency; ServSafe Manager certification within 60 days of hire date.
- Experience: One year of experience in quantity food preparation, state sanitary regulations, and quantity food purchasing.
- Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with young children and families; ability to relate to income-eligible families; ability to work independently at times; mathematical ability to compute production counts and adapt quantity recipes.
- Characteristics: Attention to detail, confidentiality, problem-solving, commitment to fostering a positive workplace and early childhood learning experience.
- Technical: Successful completion of criminal record check; CPR/First Aid certification.
- Additional: A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required for occasional travel between program locations. Nice to Have

- Salary: $15.23-$19.19 per hour, based on level of training and relative work experience
- Schedule: Part-time (scheduled as needed), Monday – Friday, up to 20 hours per week
