About the Role Bowdoin College seeks a part-time Cook to support food preparation for catering and hot and cold food production, while maintaining a clean and sanitary workspace. What You'll Do
- Assembling and cooking recipes for daily menus
- Preparation of ingredients in recipes for both hot and cold food production
- Assisting with catering function set-ups and preparation
- Assisting with position coverage in production and service areas as required
- Operating cold food prep and short-order cooking equipment
- Maintaining workspace in a clean and sanitary manner
- Reading recipes and preparing to specifications What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or vocational/technical degree in the culinary or related field preferred
- ServSafe certification preferred
- Working knowledge of basic cooking techniques and their application in catering and/or institutional settings
- Ability to efficiently work independently and within a team atmosphere
- Self-motivated with strong decision-making and organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task and follow both written and oral directions
- Willingness and ability to learn new tasks
- Strong commitment to customer service
- At least 1 year of experience in kitchen production or food service industry Nice to Have
- ServSafe certification (preferred)
- Associate’s or vocational/technical degree in culinary or related field (preferred) Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly pay: $21.00 per hour
- Shift differentials: 2nd shift – 10%; 3rd shift – 15%; plus an additional $1.00/hour during weekend hours
- This is an onsite, part-time, non-benefit eligible position working less than 20 hours/week
- There is opportunity for flexible scheduling with shifts available in the morning, afternoon, and evening
