About this role

About the Role Cook II is responsible for supervising and assisting in the preparation of all food items across the Restaurant/Dining Outlet, Cafe, Room Service, Employee Cafeteria and Banquets while upholding Avion Hospitality's high standards. This role requires strong leadership, culinary expertise, and the ability to work under pressure to deliver high-quality, timely dishes. The position is onsite in Houston, Texas. What You'll Do

  • Assist and supervise on the kitchen line during operating hours to maintain the highest standards of efficiency, productivity, and quality; support any position in the kitchen that needs help.
  • Supervise and assist in the food preparation for Banquets per Banquet Event Orders; ensure banquet items are completed on time and coordinate with Banquet Manager for changes.
  • Supervise the preparation of food for the Employee Cafeteria as necessary.
  • Ensure all food is prepared following Avion Hospitality standard recipes.
  • Maintain the 'Clean as You Go' policy; oversee sanitation and cleaning schedules; keep storage areas neat and clean.
  • Supervise and assist with the breakdown of buffets and kitchen line; ensure proper storage of food and equipment after each meal period.
  • Ensure all employees practice safe work habits; enforce hotel policies and house rules; be familiar with emergency procedures.
  • Ensure staff are attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to guests and teammates.
  • Aid in food security; ensure meat locker, storeroom, and walk-ins are locked when not in use.
  • Assist in training staff on operation and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
  • Attend management meetings and perform any other duties as requested by management. What We're Looking For
  • Food Handlers Certification (must comply with state requirements).
  • At least 5 years of related progressive culinary experience (or a culinary graduate with at least 1 year of progressive experience); previous supervisory responsibility preferred.
  • Ability to convey information clearly and to listen effectively.
  • Ability to evaluate multiple course options quickly and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Strong initiative, composure under pressure, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to assimilate complex information and coordinate with co-workers and guests.
  • Ability to work with and understand financial information and basic arithmetic.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and maintain professionalism.
