About the Role We are seeking a Controls Specialist / Controls Systems Engineer to join Johnson Controls Federal Systems (JCFS), supporting U.S. federal government sites abroad (OCONUS) with a focus on the Department of State and Department of Defense projects. This role is remote within the United States with frequent travel and responsibilities across HVAC controls and Building Automation System (BAS) projects for federal facilities.

What You'll Do

• Act as the on-site project leader to execute and complete HVAC controls and BAS projects with assigned customers in a safe and cost-effective manner.
• Perform or delegate tasks to fully complete projects including system programming, installation coordination, system and network commissioning, training and project closeout.
• Participate in installation of hardware designs and software programming using established standards.
• Communicate design and operation details to customers, Johnson Controls staff and subcontractors.
• Manage loading, device verification, and commissioning of all system controllers; validate functionality and resolve issues with subcontractors.
• Produce accurate project as-built and commissioning documentation; test and modify system software.
• Provide coaching, mentoring and technical assistance; deliver site-specific training for owner/operator on the total system.

What We're Looking For

• Experience leading on-site HVAC controls and BAS projects for federal facilities.
• Proficiency in system programming, installation coordination, system and network commissioning, training and project closeout.
• Ability to load, verify, commission controllers, and troubleshoot to ensure proper operation.
• Strong written and verbal communication with customers, staff and subcontractors; ability to create as-built and commissioning documentation.
• Willingness to travel up to ~80% (including international travel) with durations that can extend ~90 days; eligible for per diem and expenses covered.
• Self-starter able to work remotely from anywhere in the United States.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: USD 115,000 - 150,000 per year, based on experience and location.
• Bonus eligible on top of base salary; daily per diem when traveling; all travel expenses covered.
• Benefits eligible from day one; 3 weeks paid vacation, 5 sick days, 3 floating holidays, 10 standard holidays per year.
