About this role
FiscalFounders
Controller-level accounting infrastructure for scaling companies
About the job
We're the finance team for startups that have outgrown their bookkeeper.
Fiscal Founders works embedded in our clients' businesses the way an in-house finance team would — close, reporting, compliance, and the strategic read on the numbers. Our clients are early-stage and scaling US companies, and we're who they call when the books stop keeping up with the business.
What you'd own
Month-end close, end to end, for a portfolio of client companies. Journal entries through financial statements, under US GAAP. You're the name on the email — the person a founder asks when something doesn't look right.
The clients are early, which means the books are messy when we arrive, the processes don't exist yet, and the ask changes month to month. If that sounds like a problem, this isn't your role. If it sounds like the interesting part, keep reading.
Over time: due diligence engagements, technical accounting, and building the team underneath you.
You've probably
- Owned a close under US GAAP yourself, not in support of someone else
- Juggled several clients or entities in the same month and hit every deadline
- Been the direct line to a founder or owner, and gotten good at translating financials into plain English
- Walked into a mess and built the process that fixed it
Nice if you have: CPA, public or outsourced accounting background, QBO / NetSuite depth, real ASC 606 and 842 experience, startup or fractional CFO firm time.
