Controller
Robert Half Management Resources is currently looking for an experienced Controller to provide onsite accounting leadership for a manufacturing operation in Piqua, OH. This interim Controller opportunity is ideal for a hands-on finance leader who can step in quickly, maintain continuity in close activities, and support accurate financial reporting during an interim period. This role is based 100% onsite at the client's location in Piqua, OH. Role is expected to last through the end of the year, with potential for extensions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities while helping the team maintain an efficient reporting cadence.
- Create, review, and record journal entries in alignment with U.S. GAAP and company accounting standards.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, investigate discrepancies, and clear outstanding items in a timely manner.
- Carry out assigned internal control procedures and maintain clear documentation to support compliance requirements.
- Organize schedules, workpapers, and related records needed for financial reporting and audit support.
- Manage accounting activities related to fixed assets, accruals, and prepaid balances to ensure accurate period-end reporting.
- Partner with internal and external auditors by preparing requested analysis and responding to documentation needs.
- Evaluate existing accounting workflows and recommend practical improvements that enhance controls and streamline close execution.
- Produce ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to support business and operational decision-making.
- Collaborate with leadership while serving as an individual contributor in a fully onsite environment without direct reports.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of accounting or controllership experience, including significant responsibility for period-end close activities.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment with strong knowledge of cost accounting principles.
- Demonstrated expertise in journal entries, account reconciliations, and balance sheet analysis.
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal control practices, including SOX-related environments.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to prepare detailed schedules and financial analyses.
- Experience working with major ERP platforms such as Oracle, SAP, QAD, or similar enterprise accounting systems.
- Ability to work onsite in Piqua, Ohio and step into an interim assignment with minimal ramp-up time.
