Job Description

The Controller is a key member of the plant leadership team responsible for providing strategic financial leadership, ensuring strong financial controls, and driving business performance. This role oversees all finance and accounting functions while partnering with operational leaders to support profitability, growth, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The successful candidate will be a strong people leader who can develop high-performing teams, influence decision-making through financial insight, and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

POSITION SALARY

$125,000 - $155,000 CAD Annually

This range reflects only the base salary and does not include other components of our total compensation package, such as bonuses, the Continuous Improvement Program, GRRSP Matching, MBC Program, and other variable benefits.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • CPA designation required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience.
  • Experience with integrated financial / manufacturing software packages and SAP.

KEY FINANCIAL & BUSINESS RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead all financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and long-range business planning activities.
  • Ensure the integrity of financial statements, costing, inventory, capital assets, and internal controls, including SOX compliance.
  • Analyze business performance, identify risks and opportunities, and provide actionable recommendations to leadership.
  • Drive profitability and cost improvement initiatives through financial analysis and operational partnership.
  • Lead audit activities and ensure compliance with Magna policies, regulatory requirements, and corporate standards.

KEY LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a key member of the plant leadership team, providing strategic financial guidance and supporting business decisions.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Finance team while building a strong succession pipeline.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, collaboration, and operational excellence.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to drive profitability, operational performance, and business growth.
  • Champion finance transformation initiatives, process improvements, and organizational change.
