About the Role Brandywine Counseling & Community Services, Inc. (BCCS) is seeking a Controller to lead financial operations for a nonprofit healthcare provider. The role will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, payroll administration, and audits to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely financial management in support of the organization's mission. What You'll Do
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, producing balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
- Assist leadership in budgeting and forecasting, monitor budget against actual spending, and identify variances.
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal accounting policies to safeguard assets, mitigate risk, and prevent fraud.
- Manage the accounting department, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and payroll staff.
- Serve as primary point of contact for external auditors and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations including 1099s and W-2s.
- Prepare indirect cost proposals and coordinate proposals for federal contracts as needed.
- Engage in contracting activities for third-party payers where required. What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business (or equivalent).
- 8+ years of experience in accounting/finance; nonprofit experience preferred.
- CPA or CMA preferred; advanced accounting knowledge (GAAP/IFRS).
- ERP expertise and experience with large-scale financial systems.
- Experience with audit coordination and payroll oversight.
- Strong communication, leadership, and internal controls mindset. Compensation & Benefits
