Role Overview

The Contract Analyst supports the administration, maintenance, and control of lease and contract records for producing and non-producing properties. This role applies technical knowledge of lease obligations and land records to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely management of payments and contractual requirements. The position will focus on the Lower 48 non-op asset team and involves work of increased complexity, requiring judgment in resolving issues while supporting Land Operations objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and input lease and contract data to ensure accuracy and consistency across land systems.

  • Prepare full releases and Exhibit A documents for assignments and contracts.

  • Manage and maintain monthly lease calendars to track rentals, shut-ins, minimum royalties, expirations, and other payment obligations.

  • Determine rental payments, obligations, and expirations necessary to maintain leases.

  • Conduct lease and unit reviews for shut-in wells and process related payments.

  • Process payments and billing records resulting from ownership changes, including assignments, deeds, and probate.

  • Review lease obligations monthly and make recommendations regarding payments and expirations.

  • Identify and resolve routine anomalies and refer complex issues to senior staff.

  • Maintain and update land records, including payments, amendments, and supporting documentation.

  • Research private and public records using online resources.

  • Respond to landowner inquiries and collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues.

  • Assist Land Operations with the preparation of agreements as requested.

  • Required Qualifications

  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the industry is required.

Skills

  • Experience with Quorum Land System (QLS) is a requirement. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, is necessary.

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Solid understanding of land principles, lease obligations, and land records management.

  • General understanding of land terminology and contracts.

  • Ability to work independently on assignments of increased complexity under general direction.
