Job Summary

• IRES is seeking an experienced Consultant Trainer – Civil Engineering to deliver technical training, professional development programmes, workshops and civil engineering consultancy assignments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deliver technical training programmes in civil engineering.

• Develop training materials, presentations, case studies and practical exercises.

• Facilitate technical workshops and professional learning sessions.

• Translate technical concepts and industry practices into practical learning.

• Provide technical input into training proposals, curricula and consultancy assignments.

• Provide technical advisory and subject-matter expertise on civil engineering assignments.

• Keep training content current with relevant standards and industry practices.

• Assess participant learning and provide constructive feedback.

• Minimum Qualifications and Professional Experience

• Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience.

• Relevant Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil and Structural Engineering.

• Relevant Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, Transportation Engineering, Water Resources Engineering or a related field is an advantage.

• Registered and licensed by the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).

• Current membership of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK).

• Relevant professional certification in the consultant’s area of specialisation, where applicable.

• Demonstrated experience in professional training, facilitation, technical presentations or knowledge transfer.

• Water and related civil engineering works

• Engineering project management

• Training & Facilitation Experience

• Experience delivering professional or technical training.

• Experience facilitating workshops, seminars or professional learning sessions.

• Ability to develop training materials and practical learning activities.

• Training of Trainers (ToT) certification is an advantage.

• Consultancy Role Focus

• Technical training, civil engineering, construction, infrastructure development and related consultancy assignments, including technical advisory and capacity-building support.

• Mode of Engagement

• The Consultant Trainer will be engaged on a need basis for specific training and consultancy assignments. The scope, duration, deliverables and professional fees will be agreed before each engagement.
