Job title: Construction Lawyer (Associate/Senior Associate/Director)
About the Role Join a close-knit, collaborative Construction & Engineering practice in Birmingham as an experienced Construction lawyer at Associate, Senior Associate, or Director level. You will work across either contentious or non-contentious aspects of Construction & Engineering law (or a mix) with clear progression opportunities in a global firm.
What You'll Do
- Advise on all aspects of construction and engineering projects from inception through procurement to execution, including finding solutions to disputes when projects do not go to plan.
- Advise on standard UK contracts (NEC4, JCT) and Model Forms, as well as international forms such as FIDIC, IChemE, and bespoke turnkey contracts.
- Undertake all forms of dispute resolution including litigation, arbitration (including international arbitration), dispute boards and adjudication, as well as ADR.
- Maintain a commercial mindset and contribute to client service excellence with direct client contact; work collaboratively with colleagues across offices and support business development.
- Mentor and develop colleagues as appropriate and help drive a high-performing team culture.
What We're Looking For
- An experienced Construction lawyer at Associate, Senior Associate, or Director level with a solid background across either contentious or non-contentious Construction & Engineering law, or a mix of both.
- Strong commercial mindset, proactive attitude, and good people skills; able to work as part of a team and participate in business development.
- Strong drafting and contract advisory skills across UK construction contracts and international forms.
Nice to Have
- Experience in business development and client relationship management.
- Experience across NEC4, JCT, FIDIC, IChemE, and bespoke turnkey contracts.
