About this role

The Conceptual Engineering Manager CO2/H2 at Linde Advanced Material Technologies is based in The Woodlands, TX. This role defines and assesses technology and overall plant solutions for Hydrogen and CO2 project opportunities in the Americas, evaluating gas supply options across various production technologies. You will support the Global Tech Product Management organization to ensure US-specific project opportunities and customer needs are considered in Hydrogen and CO2 product offerings. You will engage with internal engineering teams and vendors during early concept phases to explore collaborations, lead concept development, and conduct economic evaluations aligned with client and cluster requirements. You will create Project Specifications in partnership with customers, contribute to process deliverables, simulations, and cost/performance details for proposals, and develop preliminary conceptual capital estimates for option screening. You will work with LEA Equipment and Conceptual Design teams to verify technical solutions and confirm pricing and performance assumptions. You will support customer presentations and client knowledge-acquisition sessions, ensure strong linkages and alignment among stakeholders, and perform ad-hoc tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Define and assess technology and overall plant solutions for Hydrogen and CO2 project opportunities in the Americas and evaluate gas supply options across applicable production technologies
  • Support the Global Tech Product Management organization to ensure Hydrogen and CO2 offerings consider optimization for US project opportunities and customers
  • Provide support to internal engineering teams for partnership development during early concept phases with electrolyzer, SMR, and CO2 vendors; explore collaboration opportunities and deepen relationships
  • Lead concept development activities and conduct economic evaluations of solution options based on client and cluster requirements and impacts on customer processes
  • Interface with Business Development to explore opportunities to expand project scope
  • Lead the creation of Project Specifications (PS Documents) in partnership with customers and provide input to process deliverables, simulations, and cost/performance details for proposals, collaborating with internal engineering teams
  • Develop preliminary conceptual capital estimates and provide performance inputs for option screening
  • Collaborate with LEA Equipment and Conceptual Design teams to verify technical solutions and confirm pricing and performance assumptions
  • Support customer presentations and participate in client knowledge-acquisition sessions
  • Ensure strong alignment and correct inputs across all stakeholders and perform ad-hoc tasks as required

Requirements

  • BS degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field
  • 8+ years of technical experience in industrial gas process plant engineering and project execution; experience with plant design, process engineering packages, or proposal development is highly desirable
  • Strong technical expertise in CO2, CCS, and hydrogen production technologies, with experience in renewable technologies, electrolyzers, and fuel cells
  • Experience with process concepts, simulations, and techno-economic evaluations is preferred
  • Experience interfacing with customers, vendors, and cross-functional engineering teams
  • Familiarity with project economics, financial requirements, and modeling, with a fundamental understanding of supply-scheme economics
  • Ability to challenge and improve the status quo with respect and integrity and maintain a continuous-improvement mindset
  • Strong verbal, numerical, and reasoning skills, with clear communication of technical and market information through excellent oral and written communication
