About the Role Prevost, a division of Volvo Canada Inc., is currently seeking an electrical designer to design and/or modify electrical systems to meet performance, cost, reliability, and manufacturability objectives. They participate in analysis and validation of electrical concepts and prepare technical documentation for electrical projects in compliance with established norms, procedures and work instructions.

What You'll Do

• Design or participate in the design of electrical systems where specification, function and assembly meet product performance, quality, cost and weight objectives, using information, specifications and work instructions.
• Design and validate ECU programs (algorithms) whose specification and function meet performance and product quality objectives.
• Collaborate on developing the system control strategy; analyze existing code to identify impacts; evaluate feasibility and propose solutions; develop or adapt necessary programming on ECUs programmed internally.
• Collaborate, propose, maintain and execute validation plans including test matrices.
• Support production release of functions/modifications, housekeeping lists, parameters and service programming.
• Contribute to defining technical requirements and to drafting functional specifications and other required technical documentation.
• Identify and evaluate fault modes, anticipate alternatives and develop features accordingly.
• Determine mechanical mounting needs to integrate the entire electrical system into the vehicle.
• Support prototype fabrication by providing necessary information to validate electrical (and related mechanical) systems and algorithms, perform tests and give recommendations as required.
• Support project go-to-production with the relevant sectors; modify systems to correct operating deviations based on analyses.
• Create or modify assembly drawings and/or update existing drawings; prepare or modify bill of materials to ensure information is available at all stages of vehicle manufacturing.
• Provide technical support to other sectors as needed within the scope of his/her expertise.
• Participate in the development of specifications, estimate task durations, contribute to creation and maintenance of engineering specifications.
• Design CAD usage methodologies and contribute to its evolution; support end users; configure bill of materials and option configurations to ensure vehicle conformance to customer orders.
• Coordinate with colleagues during bill of materials assembly as needed.
• Assist in defining technical requirements and contribute to drafting functional specifications and other technical documentation to be transmitted to suppliers or subcontractors.
• Track and validate work performed.
• Participate in creating and/or modifying department work procedures.
• Prepare engineering technical documents and verify their accuracy.
• Train employees or external collaborators on activities related to the job as required by the supervisor.

What We're Looking For

• DEC in Electrotechnology (Electrical Engineering option) with 2 years of CAD experience, OR DEC in Electrotechnology (Instrumentation and Control option) with 2 years of CAD experience, OR DEC in Electronics Design Technology with 2 years of CAD experience, OR DEC in Industrial Electronics Technology (electrodynamics, instrumentation or automation option) with 2 years of CAD experience, OR Baccalaureate in Electrical Engineering with CAD experience or 2 years CAD.
• Intermediate English (spoken and written).
• Proficiency with CAD tools (C.A.O.).

Compensation & Benefits

• Full-time position; Entry salary of 40.92 CAD/hour.
