About the Role Based at Michelin's Centre of Technologies in Clermont-Ferrand, this role focuses on conceiving and prototyping innovative textile structures. You will contribute to durable, high-performance textiles that support Michelin’s strategic material initiatives across diverse applications, working with multidisciplinary teams to drive performance and sustainability. What You'll Do
- Design and develop innovative textiles that meet demanding specifications using a multidisciplinary approach combining materials science and user understanding.
- Define and deploy the intellectual property strategy associated with the innovations, ensuring identification and protection of technologies.
- Leverage experimental characterization tools, numerical modeling, and artificial intelligence to accelerate textile design, optimize performance, and deepen understanding of physical phenomena.
- Lead laboratory and pilot-scale prototyping in collaboration with process teams to prepare for industrialization and scale-up equipment.
- Develop, formalize, and preserve technical knowledge through active scientific and technological watch, knowledge capitalization, and sharing.
- Build and manage external partnerships (laboratories, universities, suppliers, or industries) to strengthen research capabilities and accelerate development of new solutions. What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree (Bac+3) with at least 5 years’ experience in materials design and manufacturing processes for technical textiles, or a Master’s (Bac+5) from a textile engineering school with significant experience (including through apprenticeships).
- Experience in designing and developing complex textile structures using weaving, knitting, braiding, or other innovative manufacturing technologies.
- Strong mastery of materials physics and related processing technologies to optimize textile performance and functionality.
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and actively contribute to R&D projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with internal and external stakeholders and for communicating technical topics to non-specialists.
- Analytical, rigorous scientific mindset, curiosity, and ability to approach complex problems with method and creativity.
- Strong drive for innovation and high value-added solutions.
- English at B2 level mandatory. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: from €42,000 per year, depending on profile and experience.
