About the Role The Complex Marine Analyst III will investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle marine, specialty and property claims by collecting and analyzing data in line with policy terms and contract provisions. The role involves deciding to accept or deny claims based on all documentation received, with a strong emphasis on loss mitigation such as salvage and subrogation to support profitability of the marine line. The incumbent will also work to establish solid positions with liable third parties. What You'll Do
- Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle marine, specialty and property claims by collecting and analyzing data according to policy and contract provisions.
- Determine whether to accept or deny claims based on all documentation received; typical claims may include policy cancellations due to non-payment.
- Emphasize loss mitigation activities such as salvage and subrogation to support profitability of the marine line.
- Maintain service quality and client relationships while establishing solid positions against liable third parties.
- Follow up on technical claims audit recommendations and pursue continuous improvement in claims handling where applicable. What We're Looking For
- Adequate specialist knowledge in marine claims handling (medium to advanced).
- Knowledge of policy terminology enabling accurate interpretation of policy wording.
- Basic to medium knowledge of legal/regulatory requirements and litigation procedures; some experience in negotiation, mediation, arbitration and ADR skills.
- Solid experience negotiating claims of intermediate to high complexity; experience in mediation/arbitration and ADR is a plus.
- Experience following up on technical claims audit recommendations and driving continuous improvement in claims handling is a plus. Nice to Have
- ADR skills and mediation/arbitration experience.
- Subrogation and salvage experience.
