Complex Claims Director

About the Role As Complex Claims Director, you will lead investigations and disposition of large, complex 3rd party property and casualty claims, applying deep technical expertise to drive favorable outcomes for clients and the company. What You'll Do

• Handle some of the largest, multimillion-dollar 3rd party property and casualty claims, including multi-vehicle auto accidents, plant explosions, class actions, and catastrophic product liability claims
• Review coverage under Excess Commercial General Liability and auto policies; participate in investigation and define litigation strategy
• Direct litigation, attend mediations and trials; assess liability and damages; recommend reserves; present cases to senior management
• Negotiate settlements with top plaintiff attorneys nationwide with appropriate authority; document thought process and strategy
• Develop investigation strategies to identify critical issues affecting liability, causation and damages; identify risk transfer and contribution opportunities
• Maintain clear documentation of exposure evaluation and resolution strategy; ensure effective communication with insureds, brokers, attorneys and claimants
• Budget, manage, and control litigation expenses; coordinate with defense and coverage counsel to establish ground rules
• Utilize ADR as appropriate to resolve matters efficiently and effectively What We're Looking For
• 5+ years of Commercial/Industry claims experience (preferred)
• Excellent verbal/written communication and strong negotiation skills
• Advanced experience in litigation claims management, including ADR and mediation
• Track record of attending and controlling cases pre-suit, litigated and post-trial, including mediations and settlement conferences
• Property and Casualty licenses required, must be obtained within 6 months
