Commercial Supervisor

  • Job Type Full Time
  • Qualification BA/BSc/HND
  • Experience
  • Location Nairobi
  • Job Field Sales and Business Development

Job Purpose/Mission

  • The Commercial Supervisor drives urban and peri-urban sales of high-tier solar products and accessories, Referral Agent network performance, and portfolio health.
  • The role recruits and manages a Referral Agent network, onboards third-party partners (mobile telephone dealers, contractors, electricians) for lead flow, runs local pull-sales promotions and direct sales, validates every completed installation within 72 hours, and carries ultimate ownership of the credit/debt portfolio generated in the urban and peri-urban location.
  • Two things happen on every case without exception: every completed installation receives a 72-hour validation site visit against approved forms and SOPs, and every non-performing account gets a same-day response from this role before it gets escalated to the Collections Department.

Responsibilities

  • Daily Cadence — Referral Agent Network, Lead Conversion & Direct Sales
  • Each day, keep the Referral Agent network active and productive, and keep direct sales moving:
  • Field mentorship — shadow, coach, and actively performance-manage Referral Agents in the urban and peri-urban location; keep the network active and supported, not just recruited.
  • Lead tracking & conversion — maintain strict use of SOL.RM’s Prospecting App for every Referral Agent lead; provide hands-on support to maximize conversion into closed sales.
  • Direct sales — pitch and close solar products and mobile phone solutions directly, complementing Referral Agent volume and covering key customer catchment locations the Referral Agent network doesn't reach.
  • Service Center sales support — support in-store sales promotions and activations at peri-urban Service Centers in the location.
  • Third-party partner servicing — maintain relationships with onboarded mobile telephone dealers, local contractors, and electricians to keep referral volume steady

Escalate Same Day If:

  • A Referral Agent's leads or conduct raise fraud concerns — fabricated leads, ghost sign-ups, or pressure-selling.

  • A closed sale cannot be onboarded onto SOL.RM the same day.

  • 72-Hour Cadence- Installation validation & Quality Assurance

  • Within 72 hours of every completed installation in the urban and peri-urban location, run the validation audit:

  • 72-hour audit — visit the site to follow up on and validate the installation; complete documentation in accordance with the approved forms and SOPs.

  • Technical & issue support — provide immediate support for any operational, technical, or customer issue identified during the visit.

  • Escalate Same Day If

  • A validation visit surfaces a falsified sign-off, a ghost installation, or a safety defect.

  • A technical issue found during validation cannot be resolved at the urban and peri-urban location level.

  • Weekly Cadence - Portfolio Health & Referral Agent Performance

  • Every week, review the urban and peri-urban location’s credit portfolio and the health of the Referral Agent network behind it:

  • Portfolio ownership — review the credit/debt portfolio generated in the urban and peri-urban location; track the Current / Delayed / Defaulted split against the company's 70/20/10 plan.

  • Referral Agent network health — review active vs. inactive Referral Agent ratio; retrain or replace underperforming Referral Agents.

Escalate If:

  • Urban and peri-urban location portfolio trends toward Defaulted beyond the 10% plan threshold.

  • Commercial Supervisor fails to obtain a same-day response from non-performing account to the Collections Department.

  • Monthly Cadence – Community Relations & Regulatory Compliance

  • By the relevant deadlines each month, maintain the urban and peri-urban location’s standing with regulators and the community, and plan ahead:

  • Local relations — cultivate relationships with leaders, key stakeholders, and grassroots organizations in the urban and peri-urban location.

  • Regulatory compliance — ensure all Referral Agent operations, promotions, and partner engagements strictly comply with local government regulations and laws.

  • Pull-sales campaign planning — plan next month's roadshows, promotional events, and community-level marketing activities to build demand ahead of the sales cycle in collaboration with peri-urban Service Center Supervisor.

Escalate If:

  • A regulatory or compliance issue risks a halt to commercial activities in the urban and peri-urban location.

  • KPIs

  • 72-hour validation completion rate - % of completed installations validated on-site within 72h — target 100% - Weekly

  • Lead-to-sale conversion rate - % of Referral Agent leads converted into closed sales – Weekly/Monthly

  • Referral Agent active rate - % of recruited Referral Agents active and producing leads in the period - Monthly

  • Portfolio Current/Delayed/Defaulted Split - Urban and peri-urban location credit portfolio health — target 70% / 20% / 10% per collections plan - Monthly

  • Direct Sales Contribution - % of urban and peri-urban location sales closed directly by the Commercial Supervisor vs. via Referral Agents - Monthly

  • Regulatory Compliance Rate- Urban and peri-urban location sales, promotions, and partner engagements in compliance with local government regulation - target 100% - Monthly
