About this role

About the Role The Commercial Counsel position serves as legal support to Motorola Solutions’ U.S. Federal Government and defense-focused Silvus Technologies business unit. You will work closely with leaders across Motorola to provide legal counsel on a wide range of legal and compliance issues, and help build the legal framework for this growing business unit. Currently this position is eligible for 100% remote work, depending on location. If the role becomes hybrid, a minimum of 3 days onsite per week will be expected at Silvus Technologies’ headquarters in West Los Angeles, CA (Mon/Wed/Thu). What You'll Do

  • Provide primary day-to-day legal support including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating government and commercial contracts and bid documents (RFPs and RFIs), teaming agreements, statements of work (SOWs), contract amendments, license agreements, distribution and reseller agreements, subcontracts, and NDAs.
  • Advise on compliance with FAR/DFARS provisions and U.S. Federal Government data rights.
  • Develop and oversee compliance programs and training initiatives.
  • Support the sales team’s efforts to grow the business in accordance with all legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
  • Possess deep knowledge of the FAR, DFARS, and government data rights provisions; advise on risk and compliance and translate complex requirements for business stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively and train large groups; work independently and make sound decisions.
  • Travel 10-25% may be required. What We're Looking For
  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree.
  • 4+ years of experience working with U.S. Federal Government contracts, with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Admitted to the bar in at least one state (preferably California), in good standing.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain the necessary security clearance.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to train and present to large groups.
  • Adaptable, proactive, independent, with a strong “can do” attitude.
  • Experience developing and administering compliance programs for sales-focused organizations. Nice to Have
  • Experience with export control regulations, domestic preference requirements, and commerciality determinations.
  • Additional bar admission in California is a plus. Compensation & Benefits
  • Target Base Salary Range: $170,000 - $200,000 USD.
