Responsibilities

• Own overall recovery, PAR, and delinquency targets across the collections portfolio.
• Develop and implement collections strategy, segmentation, and treatment approaches based on portfolio risk.
• Analyse portfolio trends and proactively adjust collections strategy, workforce planning, and resource allocation.
• Lead and develop Assistant Collection Managers and wider collections teams, driving performance, coaching, and accountability.
• Manage escalated, high-risk, disputed, and legally sensitive accounts.
• Approve settlements, restructurings, and write-off recommendations within delegated authority.
• Coordinate referrals to Legal and third-party recovery agencies where necessary.
• Ensure collections activities comply with CBN regulations, NDPA, internal policies, and SOPs.
• Partner with Credit, Finance, Risk, Compliance, and Product teams to improve lending and collections outcomes.
• Present portfolio performance, risk exposure, recovery trends, and strategic recommendations to Executive Management.
• Continuously improve collections processes, policies, workflows, and systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Credit/Collections, or a related field from a reputable university.

• 6–8+ years of experience in collections or credit risk, with at least 2–3 years in a managerial/leadership role.

• Experience in fintech, microfinance, consumer lending, or asset finance is highly desirable.

• Strong knowledge of collections strategy, portfolio risk management, recovery, PAR, delinquency management, and regulatory compliance.

• Strong portfolio analytics, negotiation, stakeholder management, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

• Professional certification in Credit Management, Risk Management, Collections, or a related field is an advantage.
