Cold Cutting Technician Services

Responsible for safely executing cold cutting activities on piping, pipelines, vessels, tanks, structural members, risers, manifolds, headers, spools and other plant equipment using approved cold cutting methods and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform cold cutting of pipes, casings, structural members, vessels, tanks, spools, risers, manifolds and other components.

• Operate and safely handle approved cold cutting equipment, including:

• Split-frame/clamshell machines

• Hydraulic cold cutting machines

• Pneumatic cutting tools

• Diamond wire cutting systems

• Abrasive water jet cutting equipment

• Conduct pre-job inspection of cutting machines, tools and accessories.

• Verify equipment condition, certification and suitability before use.

• Follow approved work packs, method statements, JSA/JHA and risk assessments.

• Comply with Permit to Work (PTW), LOTO/isolation and SIMOPS requirements.

• Support shutdown, turnaround, brownfield modification, emergency repair, pipeline replacement, asset integrity and decommissioning activities.

• Assist with preparation and positioning of cutting equipment at the worksite.

• Ensure correct alignment and positioning of cutting equipment before commencing work.

• Monitor cutting operations and maintain control of the work area.

• Identify and report equipment defects, abnormal conditions and unsafe conditions.

• Support removal, handling and safe positioning of cut sections.

• Work safely around live plant, confined spaces, elevated work areas and other hazardous environments where applicable.

• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.

• Complete cutting records, equipment checklists and relevant job documentation.

• Coordinate with rigging, mechanical, welding, scaffolding, HSE and QA/QC personnel as required.

• Participate in toolbox talks, pre-job meetings and site safety activities.

• Stop work and report conditions that could compromise personnel, equipment or asset integrity.

• Minimum/Preferred Requirements

• Technical/trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Fabrication, Welding, Fitting or a related discipline.

• Demonstrable experience in industrial/oil & gas cold cutting or mechanical cutting operations.

• Practical knowledge of cold cutting equipment and techniques.

• Experience with shutdown/turnaround, brownfield or maintenance activities is advantageous.

• Valid HSE training and relevant site/offshore certifications as applicable.

• Ability to understand work instructions, drawings and method statements.

• Strong understanding of PTW, LOTO and basic process safety requirements.
