Job title: Coding Educator
About the Role The Coding Educator at Endeavor Health provides coding expertise, education, and resources to physicians, charge entry staff, and clinical teams to ensure accurate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding and compliant revenue cycle processes across ambulatory care. This full-time onsite role supports ongoing learning and cross-department collaboration from our Skokie, IL location.
What You'll Do
- Serve as coding resource for physicians, charge entry staff, other coders, and clinical staff.
- Assign CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes based on coding guidelines.
- Maintain productivity and aging levels per department standards, manage work queues, correct coding errors, review documentation, and apply coding guidelines to ensure accurate and timely charge submission.
- Identify coding trends and educate and implement solutions with the manager.
- Query physicians and staff regarding incomplete or missing documentation.
- Manage follow-up work queues to review denial codes and apply coding and billing guidelines for resubmission to obtain final adjudication.
- Use coding resources to assist with correct resubmission.
- Ensure service, procedure, and diagnosis codes are accurately reported and linked.
- Communicate coding changes and updates to physicians per department standards.
- Report identified or potential coding compliance issues to manager and/or Coding Compliance Department.
- Participate in continuing education and in-service programs to maintain coding and billing skills.
- Collaborate with practice managers and physicians as applicable.
What We're Looking For
- Education: High School Diploma (required).
- Certification: CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or RHIT (required).
- Experience: 3+ years of outpatient coding experience.
- Skills: CPT/ICD-10/HCPCS coding proficiency, knowledge of NCCI, LCDs, payor bulletins, and strong communication.
