Coating Technician

About the Role

As a Coating Technician at Oerlikon in Lake Orion, MI, you will be responsible for the set up and monitoring of the coating machines. The main responsibility is to prepare the coating system, load and unload the chamber, change the magnetic systems, and input process parameters in the operator screen. You will pre-treat a variety of customer products using standardized methods to prepare products for coating, and use analytical thinking to oversee and assemble chamber loads based on customer specifications. You will make critical processing decisions to initiate the coating process and be responsible for disassembling and reconfiguring the chamber for subsequent loads. What You'll Do

• Perform daily changeover maintenance of pre/post treatment equipment.

• Optimize the daily use of production equipment.

• Follow standard procedures and interpret customer work instructions.

• Collaborate with Quality and Center Management to identify and address quality concerns.

• Provide training and assistance to employees on equipment operation and maintenance.

• Learn new skills and cross-train into various departments.

• Operate and maintain coating equipment according to specifications.

• Use fixturing and defixturing techniques to build and breakdown loads.

• Maintain and update equipment records.

• Assist with quality assurance and other technical matters as required.

• Perform other duties as required and assigned to assure customer satisfaction. What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Prior machine operator experience preferred.

• Effective verbal / writing skills.

• Ability to read/write/speak English.

• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of products.
