Coater Shift Supervisor

As a Coater Shift Supervisor, you will lead shift operations within the coating production area, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production. You will develop and support team members, drive continuous improvement, troubleshoot production and equipment issues, and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards. This role requires a hands-on leader who can make sound decisions, manage multiple priorities, and proactively identify opportunities to improve productivity, yield, and team capability.

What You Will Do

• Lead and promote a strong safety culture by identifying hazards, eliminating risks, and ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures.
• Monitor product quality and verify production performance against established specifications and quality standards.
• Investigate production and equipment issues, identify root causes, and partner with engineering and technical teams to implement solutions.
• Manage shift staffing and labour resources to support production requirements efficiently.
• Develop and cross-train team members to enhance workforce flexibility and support future operational needs.
• Drive operational efficiency by optimising line utilisation, throughput, labour effectiveness, yield, and production flow.
• Coordinate rack management, sling operations, and jib boom activities as required.
• Support the development and implementation of best practices across the production team.
• Track production activities, audit material consumption, and identify opportunities to reduce glass losses and improve yields.
• Provide leadership, coaching, performance feedback, and corrective actions when required.
• Complete administrative responsibilities including documentation, performance reviews, and production records.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, cost, and productivity performance.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 2 years of manufacturing, production, or supervisory experience in an industrial environment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and address root causes.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and make decisions in a fast-paced production environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across production, engineering, and management teams.
• Ability to learn and understand technical, operational, and mechanical aspects of manufacturing processes.
• Experience leading, coaching, or developing production employees.
• Proficiency with production reporting, operational metrics, and process monitoring.
