About the Role
ALS Coal is seeking a dedicated Coal Quality Tester to join our Richlands team in the sample preparation area. This full-time role supports the day-to-day operations of the Physical Testing Laboratory, helping achieve high-quality analytical results, while upholding safety, client service, and productivity standards.
What You'll Do
- Contribute to the development, review, and continual improvement of quality systems and procedures.
- Sort bags of samples (weighing up to 16kg).
- Operate sample preparation equipment (weighing scales, crushers, pulverisers, etc.).
- Perform routine manual tasks in a coal processing environment.
- Process samples efficiently without compromising accuracy or quality.
- Perform general laboratory duties, including cleaning and maintenance of work areas.
- Ensure work is carried out safely and in accordance with standard operating instructions.
- Conduct a range of physical tests including sample preparation, sizing, crushing, dividing and sample storage.
- Hands-on physical work in a dynamic laboratory setting.
What We're Looking For
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Ability to perform physical tasks when required.
- Previous coal quality testing experience advantageous but not essential.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong customer service focus and a proactive, solutions-based approach.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.

- Previous coal quality testing experience is advantageous (optional).
