Job title: CNC Operator / Machinist

About the Role MacLean-Fogg is seeking a CNC Operator/Machinist in Buffalo, NY to operate and maintain multiple CNC machines, perform setups, tooling adjustments, quality inspections, and preventive maintenance. The role requires reading blueprints, working with tight tolerances, and collaborating with engineers and supervisors to ensure high-quality output.

What You'll Do

• Operate and maintain two CNC machines with high standards of quality and quantity.
• Read blueprints and perform setups, tooling adjustments, and basic/advanced jobs without/with assistance as needed.
• Conduct quality inspections and apply gauging methods to ensure product compliance.
• Perform minor machine maintenance and tool changes (remove, regrind, replace, adjust tools/holders).
• Load/unload materials and handle chip carts; operate ancillary equipment such as loaders, autogages, metal cutting machines, and rinses.
• Maintain 6S standards, keep work area safe and clean, and refer unsafe conditions to supervisor.
• Maintain documentation and communicate across shifts/ departments; cooperate with engineers and supervisors on layout improvements.
• Train or lead when mutually agreed; orient as requested.

What We're Looking For

• Ability to operate and maintain multiple CNC machines with high standards of quality.
• Read and understand blueprints; perform shop math as required.
• Knowledge of gauging methods; inspect work and ensure quality.
• Proficient with tooling, speeds/feeds, and setting standard machine attachments.
• Capable of loading/unloading, hand loading/packing, and operating ancillary equipment (loaders, autogages, wash equipment).
• Ability to identify and correct problems; perform minor repairs and communicate findings to supervisor.
• Maintain proper documentation; collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and maintenance; coordinate between shifts.
• Willingness to train and lead when requested; orient as needed; comply with Quality Management System procedures.
