Job title: CNC Machinist (Journeyman)
About the Role CNC Machinist (Journeyman) on the Navy Systems York Plant team. This 2nd-shift role supports the design, development and manufacturing of complex chilled water HVAC and refrigeration equipment for Navy vessels, including fabrication, assembly, fitting, braze tubing, threading, welding of piping and pressure vessel components. The role involves reading drawings and specifications to produce high-precision parts and assemblies for Navy equipment.
What You'll Do
- Use tool preset machines, precision measuring instruments, hand and power tools, deburr tools, and material handling equipment.
- Work from drawings, process sheets, specifications, tape programs, instructions, or visual display units to fabricate and inspect parts.
- Perform fixture change-overs, loading and unloading of production parts, on-line part inspection, and manual data input to ensure finishes and tolerances.
- Maintain tooling and backup tooling as needed.
- Work with ferrous/nonferrous metals and perform welding (conventional or submerged arc, stick, TIG, and manual arc) of Navy equipment and components.
- Communicate and coordinate with team to meet production schedule; comply with safety and quality requirements.
What We're Looking For
- Journeyman CNC Machinist with ability to work on 2nd shift (2pm-10pm) at York, PA.
- Experience reading drawings, process sheets, specifications, tape programs, instructions, or visual display units.
- Proficiency in fixture change-overs, loading/unloading parts, on-line inspection, and data entry.
- Ability to maintain tooling and backup tooling; familiarity with fixture hardware and setup.
- Knowledge of welding of piping and pressure vessels (welded coded and noncoded) in Navy equipment; skilled in stick, TIG, and manual arc welding.
- Willingness to work in a government/Navy environment and support mission.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay: $43.31 per hour, plus $2.00/hour shift differential.
- Shift: 2nd shift, Monday-Friday (2pm-10pm).
- Location: Navy Systems York Plant, York, PA.
- Union: Bargaining unit position.
