Job title: CNC Machine Operator, 2nd Shift
Johnson Controls is seeking a CNC Machine Operator, 2nd Shift for its Grantley Plant in York, PA. This role supports federal Navy Systems work by operating a CNC-controlled horizontal machining center with a rotary table and 14 feet of travel. The operator will ensure conformance to finishes and tolerances while utilizing tool preset, probing, and on-line systems, and working under DNC linkage.
Responsibilities include operating a CNC-controlled horizontal machining center with rotary table, using tool preset machine, precision measuring instruments, hand and power tools, deburr tools, and appropriate material handling equipment. The operator will work from drawings, process sheets, specifications, tape programs, instructions, or visual display units; maintain on-line data input as needed. Additional tasks include performing fixture change-overs, loading and unloading of production parts, on-line piece parts inspection, and manual data input to ensure specified finishes and tolerances. The operator will maintain tooling and backup tooling; monitor tool life and wear, adjust as needed; operate within adaptive control and horsepower monitoring features.
Qualifications include experience operating CNC machines, especially CNC horizontal machining centers, ability to read and interpret drawings, process sheets, specifications, tape programs, and instructions. Familiarity with 100-position ATC, DNC-linked systems, and PC-based tool management/preset systems is preferred. Experience with fixture changeovers, loading/unloading production parts, and on-line inspection is essential. Strong attention to finishes and tolerances and the ability to work 2nd shift (Monday - Friday, 2pm - 10pm) is required. Candidates should be safety-minded, with good housekeeping practices.
Preferred qualifications include experience in a union environment, Navy/defense manufacturing experience, and familiarity with Navy Systems or York Plant operations.
Compensation includes a pay rate of $34.08 per hour, plus a $2.00 per hour shift differential. Benefits are eligible on the first day of employment; relocation assistance may be available.
