Job title: CNC Lathe Operator
About the Role A CNC Lathe Operator sets up and operates CNC lathes to manufacture precision parts using carbon and alloy steels and non-ferrous materials. The role involves loading programs, setting up fixtures, tooling and parts according to set-up sheets, and maintaining tooling and machine processes to ensure quality and continuous production.
What You'll Do
- Set up and operate CNC lathes.
- Load prepared program into machines, set up fixturing, tooling, and parts per set-up sheets, using operator control panel as required.
- Generate equipment sequence for metal removal operations utilizing conversational programming features.
- Burr, clean and protect parts; inspect and gauge own work in process; stamp/identify parts and record production data.
- Check and maintain oil levels, cutting oils, and coolants daily for continuous operation.
- May set up and/or operate multiple CNC lathes; monitor companion machines for malfunctions and ensure production continuity.
- Work with minimum supervision on standard or repetitive work; seek guidance when needed.
- Use measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, verniers, gauges, etc.
- Be aware of and comply with safety and quality requirements.
What We're Looking For
- Ability to load programs into CNC lathes and perform setup per set-up sheets; operate machines with attention to precision.
- Experience or capability to read and gauge parts using micrometers, calipers, verniers, gauges, etc.
- Ability to monitor and maintain oils, cutting oils, and coolants; perform daily checks to ensure continuous operation.
- Willingness to work with minimum supervision on standard or repetitive tasks; ability to recognize and report machine malfunctions.
- Strong focus on quality, safety, and production data recording.
