Job title: CNC Lathe Machinist
About the Role Volt is hiring a CNC Lathe Machinist in El Cajon, CA. You will operate lathes, ensure safety and quality, read blueprints, select tools, and collaborate with engineers to optimize machining. This is a full-time temp-to-hire opportunity that supports ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality standards in a manufacturing environment.
What You'll Do
- Operate lathes and ensure work meets safety and quality standards
- Perform in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, and gauges
- Conduct quality checks with calipers, micrometers, and gauges and document deviations or defects
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and job orders
- Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and machine parameters for each job
- Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of machines and tools
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and adjust to improve performance
- Maintain organized workspaces and comply with safety protocols
- Document production activities and report deviations or defects
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality standards
- Collaborate with engineers and supervisors to optimize machining processes
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or technical certificate in machining or manufacturing
- 3+ years of experience operating CNC lathes
- Understanding of GD&T and precision measurement techniques
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints/technical drawings
- Strong safety awareness and knowledge of shop procedures
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Able to walk for long periods, stoop, squat, climb, and work extended hours and weekends if required
- Availability for a 4/10 schedule (Mon-Fri, 4am-2:30pm or 6am-4:30pm)
Nice to Have
- Preferred: Knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality standards familiarity
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $20-25 per hour
