About the Role The CMC Project Leader coordinates and proactively manages ongoing API manufacturing campaigns for Bachem's biotechnology and pharmaceutical clients. This role reports to the Director and serves as a key liaison with customers and internal cross-functional teams (Sales, QC, QA, Logistics, Production). The role ensures client milestones and deliverables are met efficiently and on schedule.
What You'll Do
- Lead project teams (3-10 internal and external members) for customers and in-house R&D operationally.
- Act as business lead in ongoing collaborations: contract negotiation, business proposals and forecasting, and risk-sharing options.
- Ensure project scope is adhered to and deliverables meet timelines, accounting for customer agreements.
- Serve as go-to person for project-related tasks and issues, aligned with PM Guide.
- Structure, lead, and monitor activities with project team using available tools and systems.
- Represent Bachem in project contexts to senior/executive customer leadership.
- Report accurate project data in CRM and document exchange platforms (Salesforce, Teams).
- Partner with senior leadership to secure capacity and support for customer projects.
- Compile accurate, fit-for-purpose documentation (minutes, plans, actions, summaries, options) using templates.
- Identify opportunities to expand scope and present to customers to generate additional business.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Bioengineering or similar) required.
- Master’s Degree in Science (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Bioengineering or similar), MBA/PMP or PhD preferred.
- Minimum 6 years’ experience in (bio-)pharma/CDMO/chemical industry with bachelor’s; or minimum 4 years with master’s.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a customer-facing role or CMC project management.
- Basic knowledge of clinical development and regulatory filings for drug substances; GMP understanding.
- Experience with diverse customers (small/biotech and large); financial understanding of customer accounts.
- Familiarity with drug substance characterization (HPLC, UPLC, LC-MS, MS, GC-MS, AAA, CHN).
- Excellent computer skills: MS Office, CRM (Salesforce), Document Control (Master Control), SharePoint/ShareFile, ERP/SAP or CRM, MS Project.
- Ability to organize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; proactive, solution-focused communicator.
- Detail-oriented, independent worker with strong time management; cross-functional collaboration.
- Knowledge of CMC documents for IND/NDA filings and API development; contracts and agreements (NDAs, Supply and Quality Agreements, RFPs).
- PMP certification preferred.

Compensation & Benefits
- Base annual salary range: $108,613.70–$149,343.83.
