Cluster Director of Finance

The Cluster Director of Finance is responsible for the overall financial leadership, control, and performance of Avani+ Barbarons Seychelles and Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas. This role provides strategic financial direction to both properties while ensuring strong financial governance, effective internal controls, regulatory compliance, and accurate and timely financial reporting.

As a key member of the ExCom team, the Cluster Director of Finance works closely with the General Manager, Executive Committee, department heads, and corporate finance teams to drive sustainable profitability, optimize cash flow, manage financial risks, and support informed business decision-making.

The position requires a commercially minded finance leader who can balance rigorous financial controls with the operational realities of luxury resort hospitality, including high-value villas, food and beverage operations, spa and wellness services, excursions, guest experiences, and international clientele.

Strategic Financial Leadership

  • Provide overall financial leadership and strategic direction for both properties.
  • Act as a trusted business partner to the Cluster General Manager and Executive Leadership Teams.
  • Translate financial information into meaningful commercial insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Support the development and execution of the resorts' strategic business plans.
  • Monitor financial performance against budgets, forecasts, business objectives, and key performance indicators.
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability, productivity, cost efficiency, and return on investment.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations for major commercial and operational decisions.
  • Maintain a strong balance between financial discipline and delivering the luxury guest experience expected from both brands.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Business Planning

  • Lead the annual budgeting and business planning process for both resorts.
  • Prepare accurate monthly forecasts and rolling financial projections.
  • Challenge departmental assumptions and ensure budgets reflect realistic operational requirements and commercial opportunities.
  • Monitor actual performance against budget and forecast, identifying significant variances and corrective actions.
  • Develop scenario analyses to support management decisions, particularly around occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, food and beverage performance, payroll, procurement, and operating costs.
  • Work closely with Revenue Management, Sales & Marketing, and Operations to evaluate commercial performance.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly financial reporting for both properties.
  • Review monthly P&L statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports, and management accounts.
  • Provide clear financial commentary and explanations of significant variances.
  • Monitor key hospitality performance indicators, including occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, departmental profitability, GOP, payroll ratios, cost of sales, and operating expenses.
  • Prepare financial presentations and reports for ownership, corporate management, and senior leadership.
  • Ensure consistency and integrity of financial data across both properties.

Financial Controls & Compliance

  • Maintain robust internal controls and financial procedures across the cluster.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, statutory requirements, and applicable Seychelles legislation.
  • Oversee internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
  • Monitor cash handling, banking, credit control, purchasing, receiving, inventory, payroll, and payment processes.
  • Ensure appropriate segregation of duties and authorization controls.
  • Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks.
  • Maintain effective controls over assets, inventories, receivables, payables, and cash.

Cash Flow & Working Capital Management

  • Oversee the cluster's cash flow and working capital position.
  • Monitor daily cash balances and short- and medium-term liquidity requirements.
  • Ensure effective collection of receivables and management of supplier payments.
  • Review credit exposure and ensure appropriate credit controls are maintained.
  • Optimize working capital without compromising operational requirements or supplier relationships.

Revenue & Commercial Finance

  • Partner closely with Revenue Management and Commercial teams to maximize total resort profitability.
  • Analyze pricing, occupancy, channel mix, market segmentation, and promotional performance.
  • Evaluate the financial impact of packages, promotions, contracts, commissions, and commercial agreements.
  • Support the development of strategies to maximize total revenue across rooms/villas, food and beverage, spa, activities, and other ancillary revenue streams.
  • Provide financial insight into the performance of different market segments and distribution channels.

Cost Management & Profitability

  • Establish effective cost-control measures while protecting service quality.
  • Monitor food and beverage costs, beverage costs, payroll, utilities, operating supplies, and other major expenditure categories.
  • Work with department heads to identify efficiencies and eliminate unnecessary expenditure.
  • Conduct regular reviews of departmental productivity and operating costs.
  • Ensure procurement practices provide appropriate value, quality, and commercial terms.
  • Monitor inventory levels, stock movements, wastage, and stock variances.

Procurement & Inventory

  • Oversee financial aspects of procurement and purchasing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with approved purchasing procedures and delegated authority limits.
  • Review supplier contracts, pricing, payment terms, and commercial agreements where appropriate.
  • Ensure regular physical inventories are conducted and discrepancies investigated.
  • Work closely with Executive Chefs, F&B, Engineering, Housekeeping, and other departments to manage operational inventories effectively.

Payroll & Workforce Cost Management

  • Monitor payroll costs and workforce productivity across both properties.
  • Review staffing levels, overtime, allowances, benefits, and other personnel-related costs.
  • Partner with Human Resources and department heads to ensure staffing plans align with business volumes and financial objectives.
  • Ensure payroll controls, approvals, and reporting are accurate and compliant.

Capital Expenditure & Asset Management

  • Provide financial oversight of capital expenditure projects and major maintenance initiatives.
  • Review CAPEX proposals and assess financial justification, return, and budget availability.
  • Monitor approved projects against budget and ensure appropriate capitalization and accounting treatment.
  • Maintain effective controls over fixed assets and asset registers.
  • Support long-term asset planning and investment decisions.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, develop, and motivate the cluster Finance team.
  • Establish clear objectives, performance standards, and development plans.
  • Build a culture of accountability, integrity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop finance talent and succession plans within the department.
  • Promote strong cooperation between Finance and operational departments.
  • Ensure the Finance team provides a responsive and commercially focused service to the business.

Ownership Management

  • Work closely with the Owning Company’s Finance team to ensure alignment on financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, financial controls, investment decisions, and other ownership-related financial matters.
