About this role
Canonical is seeking a Cloud Solutions Architect – Alliances to join its global Alliances team. This is a worldwide, home-based role focused on helping major technology and business partners adopt Canonical's open-source technologies and build joint solutions for their customers.
The role sits within Canonical's worldwide field engineering organization, which supports the adoption of Ubuntu, OpenStack, Kubernetes, AI/MLOps, cloud infrastructure, and a broad range of open-source technologies. The successful candidate will work closely with strategic partners including hardware manufacturers, global system integrators, independent software vendors, channel partners, and public cloud providers.
As an Alliances Cloud Solutions Architect, you will help partners understand, adopt, architect, and integrate Canonical technologies into their own offerings and customer solutions. You will work at the intersection of technical architecture, partner enablement, cloud infrastructure, and go-to-market strategy, helping business leaders define joint programs from a technical perspective.
This is a highly customer- and partner-facing technical role. You will be expected to understand complex technology environments, provide thoughtful technical guidance, and communicate effectively with both highly technical engineers and business stakeholders. The role requires the ability to understand customer and partner needs, design practical solutions, and explain the value of open-source technologies in real-world enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand and work with Ubuntu, Linux, networking, and associated services in real-world enterprise environments.
- Architect cloud infrastructure solutions using technologies such as Kubernetes, Kubeflow, OpenStack, Ceph, and Spark.
- Design solutions for both on-premises environments and public cloud platforms, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.
- Architect and integrate open-source technologies such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Kafka, Cassandra, and NGINX.
- Help technology partners develop and architect joint solutions based on Canonical technologies.
- Support the use of Canonical technologies across public cloud environments and data centers.
- Design and publish joint reference architectures with partners.
- Perform technical validations of partner solutions and architectures.
- Prepare and deliver onboarding sessions and technical workshops for partner teams.
- Promote Canonical products and solutions through technical presentations, demonstrations, and partner engagements.
- Work with OEMs, GSIs, ISVs, channel partners, and public cloud alliance partners.
- Help partners adopt Canonical products and technologies for their own businesses and customers.
- Support the development of joint go-to-market programs from a technical perspective.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues across Linux, cloud infrastructure, networking, and open-source technologies.
- Maintain strong communication and reliable follow-up across multiple partner engagements.
