Job title: Cloud Professional Services Manager
About the Role Lead Canonical's Field Engineering / Cloud Professional Services team, helping customers design and implement open source cloud solutions in public clouds and on their own data centers. This role blends hands-on engineering leadership with strategic team direction, presales engagement, and talent development to drive adoption of open source in new industries.
What You'll Do
- Lead and manage the Field Engineering / Cloud Professional Services team, shaping its direction and delivery
- Design private and public cloud solutions that fit customers' workload needs (OpenStack, Kubernetes, Ceph, Kubeflow, Spark, PostgreSQL, etc.)
- Deploy, test, and hand over solutions to support or managed services teams at project completion
- Participate in presales conversations, providing technical guidance during the sales process
- Develop engineering talent, mentor engineers, and guide career growth within the team
- Collaborate with other teams and customers to drive successful delivery and impact
- Actively participate in technical presales to help the department achieve quarterly goals
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience leading professional services / field engineering teams in cloud/open source environments
- Strong technical background with hands-on engineering ability and troubleshooting expertise
- Experience in presales and delivering technical guidance to customers
- Ability to shape team direction, focus, and delivery, and to drive collaboration across teams
- Experience designing and delivering cloud solutions (on-premises and/or public cloud) using OpenStack, Kubernetes, Ceph, Kubeflow, Spark, PostgreSQL, etc.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills; comfortable working with global teams
- Passion for growing talent and mentoring engineers in a fast-moving, open source environment
- Willingness to work in a remote/global role
Nice to Have
- Experience with OpenStack, MicroCloud, Ceph
- Background delivering MLops platforms and data platforms
- Industry experience in telco, finance, healthcare, or media
- Active contributions to open source projects
