Job title: Cloud Field Engineering Manager
About the Role Canonical's Cloud Field Engineering Manager leads the Field Engineering team, working directly with customers to design and implement private and public cloud solutions using open source technologies. The role combines hands-on engineering, customer-facing presales conversations, and people leadership to shape the team's direction, focus and delivery.
What You'll Do
- Lead and manage the Cloud Field Engineering team, providing line management and career guidance.
- Design and deliver private and public cloud solutions (OpenStack, MicroCloud, Ceph, Kubernetes, Kubeflow, Spark, PostgreSQL) fitting customer workloads.
- Deploy, test, and hand over solutions to support or managed services teams at project end.
- Participate in presales conversations to provide technical advice during the sales process.
- Represent the team technically, drive collaboration with other teams and customers, and help achieve quarterly goals.
- Develop engineering talent and mentor engineers to grow technical and soft skills.
- Ensure successful delivery and customer satisfaction through close collaboration with customers and internal teams.

- Strong leadership and line-management capabilities, with a track record of developing engineering talent and representing the team from a technical perspective.
- Comfortable working in customer-facing environments and collaborating across multiple teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience with OpenStack, Ceph, Kubernetes, Kubeflow, Spark, PostgreSQL (on‑prem or cloud deployments).
- Experience with MLops platforms and data platforms.
- Open source background and experience working with the Ubuntu/OpenStack ecosystem.
