About this role
About the Role
Join adjoe's Cloud Engineering team to build and operate scalable, cost-efficient infrastructure behind Playtime Arcade, supporting hundreds of millions of users and billions of events each day. You will help keep the adtech platform online, performant, and cost-aware as we migrate toward cloud-agnostic, self-hosted tooling.
What You'll Do
-
Design, deploy and operate cloud infrastructure at scale across data centers using Kubernetes, Terraform, and an open stack including Kafka, Druid, Airflow, Spark, and more.
-
Run Kubernetes clusters with event-driven autoscaling (Karpenter), manage Kafka for real-time streaming, and provision infrastructure as code.
-
Build and maintain data pipelines, a data lake, and inference-ready ML workflows that feed data scientists and BI.
-
Drive cost efficiency with AI-based anomaly detection on infrastructure costs and evaluate managed AWS vs open-source alternatives.
-
Migrate workloads to self-hosted solutions and introduce new tools that boost business results.
-
Deliver reliable CI/CD pipelines that are fast, predictable, and low-maintenance using GitLab across distributed environments.
-
Collaborate with backend teams building high-performance Go services and support across distributed systems.
-
Work across multiple data centers and contribute to a cloud-agnostic architecture that keeps systems online and scalable.
-
What We're Looking For
-
3+ years in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering with hands-on Kubernetes operation experience.
-
Strong understanding of AWS services (EKS, DynamoDB, SNS, SQS, IAM, Lambda) and infrastructure as code with Terraform.
-
Experience navigating tradeoffs between managed AWS services and open-source alternatives and know when each makes sense.
-
Microservice event-driven architecture background: topics, queues, object storage; ability to support backend teams building Go services across distributed environments.
-
Reliable CI/CD as a product requirement; building pipelines that are fast, predictable, and low-maintenance.
-
Hands-on with emerging infrastructure; comfortable migrating workloads to self-hosted solutions and introducing new tools.
-
Nice to Have
-
Experience with Druid, Airflow, Spark, Trino, MLFlow, Jupiter Hub, Elasticsearch, Fluentbit, Grafana, Prometheus.
-
Familiarity with cloud-agnostic architectures and open-source tooling as a deliberate choice over managed services.
-
Willingness to relocate to Hamburg, Germany.
-
Compensation & Benefits
-
You will work on systems reaching hundreds of millions of users and billions of decisions daily.
-
Grow with a diverse, global team from 40+ countries; contribute to a culture that values openness and collaboration.
-
Move fast, own impactful projects, and enjoy daily wins as part of a fun, energetic team.
-
Relocation support to Hamburg for those joining the team.
