About the Role
As a Cloud DevOps Infrastructure Engineer at Roche, you will tackle unusually complex infrastructure problems with innovative DevOps solutions across the full technology stack. You will influence technology strategy, mentor teams, and ensure alignment with regulatory standards to support Roche's cloud platform on Azure.
What You'll Do
- Establishes technical direction to the whole lifecycle of platforms and services—from inception and design through deployment, operation, and retirement.
- Applies software engineering principles to build and manage large-scale IT infrastructure products and services, abstracting away complexity to provide self-service tools and APIs for developers.
- Designs complex CI/CD pipelines, develops self-healing features, and leads Disaster Recovery design and execution plans.
- Leads live services by designing metrics to measure availability, latency, and system health, and defines critical metrics used to establish SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs.
- Proactively plans for capacity, performance, and scalability; leads large initiatives to optimize inter-related platforms.
- Maintains availability, tuning, efficiency, change and configuration management, and emergency response.
- Collaborates with developers, Managed Services suppliers, and vendors to improve application development velocity and optimize services reliability; ensures new features rolled out with reliability considerations.
- Translates customer and developer needs into concrete requirements; provides direction, guidance, and priority setting as a senior analyst.
- Ensures solutions comply with Quality/Regulatory standards; implements cost, compliance, and security best practices; leads audit remediation and ITSM processes and challenges requirements to scale systems sustainably.
- Applies innovation to foster business strategy; manages audits and regulatory evidence as needed.

- Proven experience continuously researching, learning, innovating, and applying knowledge to foster business strategy.
- Azure Public Cloud Platform expertise.
- Hands-on automation experience in Python, Terraform; Infrastructure as Code (IaC); logging/monitoring/observability (Grafana, Datadog); scripting languages.
- Wide experience applying Software Engineering principles to implement Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Source code management experience (GitLab, Bitbucket, GitHub).
- Experience with infrastructure systems internals: availability, administration, capacity, configuration, scalability, performance, and integrations.
- Experience defining Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent work experience; Azure certifications or equivalent Azure Cloud knowledge.
- Exceptional customer and delivery focus; ability to transform customer needs into actionable requirements.
- Strong ability to lead complex audit exercises, manage ITSM processes, and lead Disaster Recovery design and execution.
Nice to Have
- Azure certifications or equivalent advanced Azure Cloud expertise.
- Experience working with geo-distributed teams across regions.
- Familiarity with regulatory audits and compliance in healthcare/pharma environments.
