Job title: Clinical Scheduling Specialist I

About the Role This role is responsible for all aspects of established patient scheduling in accordance with department scheduling guidelines, providing superior customer service to patients, families, physicians, and staff. Based in Boston, the Clinical Scheduling Specialist I supports a clinical practitioner group and plays a critical role in facilitating patient care.

What You'll Do

  • Provide appointment scheduling ranging in complexity from one physician appointment to multiple care provider appointments for existing patients in accordance with department scheduling guidelines.
  • Obtain detailed clinical information face-to-face, by telephone or electronically; may provide basic information regarding insurance referrals as needed.
  • Provide general disease- or program-specific information to callers/patients within knowledge and authority.
  • Perform independent patient and outside provider call triaging and assist in directing patient flow; serve as a liaison between patient/family/provider.
  • Resolve issues directly or escalate appropriately; recognize emergencies and respond using standard operating procedures and critical thinking.
  • May be responsible for scheduling numerous complex research protocols involving interaction with in-house studies, grant-funded studies and industry-sponsored clinical trials.
  • Carry out specific processes in the patient scheduling systems so that correct special billing and revenue processes function properly; require clinical, operational and regulatory knowledge of the standard of care or clinical trial protocol for the patient population coordinated.
  • Participate in training for new hires; prepare, open, and close provider schedules and handle daily schedule changes; conduct slide submission as needed.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Minimum Qualifications: bachelor’s degree in health administration or related field preferred, with up to 1 year of experience in healthcare or customer service.
  • Patient contact: Yes, interacts with the adult patient population.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $45,500 - $54,400 per year.
