About the Role The Clinical Nurse applies standard research and oncology care practices, advocates for patient safety and protocol integrity, and adheres to patient care standards to support high-quality clinical trials and patient care. This role requires effective communication with the interdisciplinary team to ensure protocol compliance and timely study-related procedures.
What You'll Do
- Adhere to applicable regulations and NEXT Oncology SOPs to ensure protocol compliance.
- Communicate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure protocol-related procedures are timely and accurate.
- Collaborate with the PI, pharmacy, and other personnel to ensure proper use and accountability of study drugs.
- Identify and address barriers to informed consent; assess patient understanding and obtain or re-consent as needed.
- Conduct complete patient assessments including vital signs and pre-examination procedures; document data accurately in the medical record.
- Record and maintain medical history and symptoms; assist providers in consultations, treatments, procedures, and follow-up care.
- Coordinate patient care and educate patients before and after procedures; triage urgent calls; coordinate referrals and precertifications as needed.
- Educate patients and families regarding clinical condition and disease process; ensure timely completion of protocol-required events (e.g., pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics, scans, study visits, QOL).
- Assess physical, psychosocial, and financial factors impacting study adherence and implement interventions as necessary.
- Liaise with other departments and organizations to support coordinated patient care.
