About the Role UCSF is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to support solid organ and blood & marrow transplant programs. The role includes on-call responsibilities for deceased donor transplant programs, infectious disease testing, data entry into various systems, preparation of cell subsets, DNA isolation, HLA typing, crossmatching by flow cytometry, testing and identification of HLA antibodies, chimerism monitoring, and other HLA-related tests. The position also involves managing samples and performing quality control and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment, as well as data analysis, reporting, and coordinating supplies.
What You'll Do
- Perform laboratory functions that support solid organ and transplant programs, including on-call duties for deceased donor transplant programs.
- Conduct infectious disease testing; perform HLA typing by various methods; crossmatch by flow cytometry; test and identify HLA antibodies; chimerism monitoring and other HLA-related tests.
- Prepare cell subsets; isolate DNA; manage samples (store, retrieve, and aliquot).
- Perform quality control and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment; analyze and report laboratory data.
- Enter data into patient and sample information systems; order supplies, arrange repairs, and perform other duties as assigned; answer phones.
What We're Looking For
- Ability to perform laboratory functions in support of solid organ and transplant programs, including on-call responsibilities for deceased donor programs.
- Experience with infectious disease testing and HLA-related testing (typing by various methods, flow cytometry crossmatching, HLA antibody testing).
- Skills in preparing cell subsets, DNA isolation, chimerism monitoring, and other HLA-related tests.
- Experience with sample management (storing, retrieving, aliquoting) and maintaining quality control and equipment.
- Data entry into multiple systems; ability to analyze and report laboratory data; strong organizational and communication skills.
Compensation & Benefits
- Final salary and offer components are subject to approvals based on UC policy; placement within the salary range depends on work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For union-represented positions, salary placement follows the collective bargaining agreement.
