About the Role The Clinical Lab Assistant role at TriCore Reference Laboratories supports multiple laboratory modalities in a fast-paced environment. The position may be placed at CLA Level 1–4 based on completed modalities and includes on-call responsibilities and on-site work in Paradise Hills. Regular attendance and professional conduct are essential. What You'll Do
- Perform duties in a professional and courteous manner; maintain supplies and inventory; observe students/new staff; problem solving; manage hospital communications including on-call responsibilities; demonstrate effective telephone and verbal communication; apply professional judgment with clients, patients and co-workers; perform clerical functions including documenting critical communications such as call-ins in absence of a supervisor; maintain confidentiality; participate in on-call coverage and service level maintenance; participate in coverage for holidays, evenings, and weekends; basic PC skills.
- Engage in modality-specific tasks including check-in and order entry/reconciliation across clinical, anatomic, research and referral testing; phlebotomy (ages 10+); special collections and external shipping; specimen processing; and basic lab support such as equipment maintenance and QC.
- Support department learning and competency through training and assessments, including N95 fit testing where required. What We're Looking For
- Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent; preferred PBT (ASCP) or equivalent certification; completion of a relevant Clinical Lab Assistant program.
- Immunization and health requirements: Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination or waiver; PPD within 90 days or via TriCore; direct contact departments require rubella, rubeola, varicella immunity or vaccination.
- General requirements: Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record; eligibility to work in a health care facility under NM rules; ability to be insured by lab carrier.
- Experience: Apprenticeship pathway available; candidates placed at CLA Level 1–4 based on modalities completed. Nice to Have
- PBT (ASCP) or equivalent certification; completion of a recognized Clinical Lab Assistant program. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: hourly; compensation dependent on number of modalities performed; paid apprenticeship option may be available. On-call responsibilities, holiday/evening/weekend coverage required.
