Job title: Clinical Lab Assistant
About the Role The Clinical Lab Assistant will work independently with minimal supervision and perform one or more identified modalities. This is an hourly role with on-call responsibilities, based in Paradise Hills, and compensation is dependent on the number of modalities performed. Candidates without experience may be considered for a paid apprenticeship level.
What You'll Do
- Perform duties in a professional and courteous manner
- Maintain supplies and inventory necessary to perform departmental functions
- Observe students and/or new staff as needed
- Exhibit basic problem solving skills to ensure exceptional customer and patient care service levels
- Be responsible for hospital communication responsibilities as assigned, including on-call responsibilities during scheduled hours by location
- Demonstrate effective telephone and verbal communication skills
- Exercise professional judgment when dealing with clients, patients, and co-workers
- Perform clerical functions as needed by the department, including documenting critical communication such as call-ins in the absence of a supervisor
- Maintain confidentiality of personal and confidential information
- Participate in and maintain coverage levels for on call as needed/required to meet service levels
- Participate in coverage for holidays, evenings, and weekends as needed or required
- Utilize basic PC skills
What We're Looking For
- Minimum education: High School diploma or equivalent
- Preferred: PBT (ASCP) or equivalent certification; completion of a relevant Clinical Lab Assistant or comparable program
- Immunization requirements: proof of Hepatitis B immunity or immunization, or waiver; PPD test within 90 days prior to hire or performed through TriCore; for departments with direct patient contact, immunity to rubella, rubeola, and varicella
- General requirements: valid driver's license and good driving record; eligible to work in a healthcare facility per applicable law
- Minimum experience: candidates with no training or experience may be considered for an apprenticeship; progression to CLA Level 1–4 based on modalities completed
Nice to Have
- Experience with the listed modalities and related laboratory processes, including but not limited to check-in and order entry, phlebotomy, specimen processing, and inventory management
- Familiarity with departmental procedures and ability to participate in staff training and competency assessments
