Job title: Clinical Lab Assistant

About the Role Clinical Lab Assistant at TriCore performs duties with minimal supervision and is capable of handling multiple modalities. Compensation is dependent on the number of modalities performed, and a paid apprenticeship option is available for candidates without experience. This role requires in-person attendance Friday-Monday 2100-0700 with weekends, holidays, on-call, and other shifts as needed.

What You'll Do

• Perform duties in a professional and courteous manner, maintain supplies and inventory, and observe students/new staff as needed.
• Exercise basic problem solving to ensure exceptional customer and patient care; manage hospital communications including on-call by location; demonstrate effective telephone and verbal communication; exercise professional judgment when dealing with clients, patients and co-workers.
• Perform clerical tasks as needed, including documenting critical communications such as call-ins in the absence of a supervisor; maintain confidentiality; participate in on-call coverage and holiday/evening/weekend coverage as required; basic PC skills.
• Work across one or more modalities including: Check-in and Order Entry/Reconciliation; General Phlebotomy; Special Collections and/or external shipping; assisting provider procedures; Specimen Processing; Non-conformity investigation; Lab Equipment Maintenance and/or support; Sample Testing; training and competency assessments; and department-specific technical and clerical functions; and inventory management.

What We're Looking For

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and perform one or more modalities; willingness to learn additional modalities; compensation linked to modalities.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record and insurability.
• Eligibility to work in a health care facility per New Mexico Caregivers Criminal History Screening Act.
• Immunization requirements: Hepatitis B immunity or immunization or waiver; PPD test within 90 days prior to hire or through TriCore; for roles with direct patient contact, immunity to rubella, rubeola and varicella or eligibility to receive vaccines.

• Compensation is dependent on the number of modalities performed; paid apprenticeship option available for candidates without experience. Shift schedule includes Friday-Monday 2100-0700 with weekends, holidays, on-call responsibilities.
