About the Role The Clinical Lab Assistant Phlebotomist works independently with minimal supervision to perform one or more defined modalities in a hospital-based laboratory. Compensation depends on the number of modalities performed, with paid apprenticeship available for candidates without prior experience. Regular in-person attendance during scheduled hours is essential. What You'll Do
- Perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and maintain necessary supplies and inventory
- Observe students/new staff as needed and support training
- Exercise sound problem solving to ensure quality patient care and service levels
- Handle hospital communications and on-call responsibilities during scheduled hours (by location)
- Communicate effectively by telephone and in person; exercise professional judgment with clients, patients and co-workers
- Complete clerical tasks as needed, including documenting critical communications in the absence of a supervisor
- Maintain confidentiality and handle personal and confidential information securely
- Participate in on-call coverage and holiday/evening/weekend coverage as needed
- Demonstrate basic PC skills and support department workflow What We're Looking For
- Minimum education: High School diploma or equivalent
- Preferred: PBT (ASCP) or equivalent certification and completion of a relevant Clinical Lab Assistant program or comparable program
- Immunization: Hepatitis B immunity proof or vaccination or waiver; PPD test within 90 days prior to hire or arranged through TriCore; rubella/rubeola/varicella immunizations as required for direct patient contact
- Valid driver's license with good driving record; insurable by lab's carrier
- Eligibility to work in a healthcare facility per applicable law; ability to work in a hospital setting and handle on-call responsibilities
- Minimum experience: Apprenticeship possible; progression through CLA levels based on modalities completed
