About this role

About the Role The Clinical Lab Assistant Phlebotomist works in a hospital laboratory setting, able to operate with minimal supervision and across multiple modalities. Compensation is based on the number of modalities performed, with a paid apprenticeship option for candidates without experience. In-person attendance and on-call responsibilities are required. What You'll Do

  • Perform duties professionally and courteously; maintain supplies and inventory
  • Observe students/new staff and provide guidance as needed
  • Apply problem-solving to ensure high-quality patient care and service
  • Handle hospital communications, including on-call duties, by location
  • Demonstrate effective verbal communication and professional judgment with clients, patients, and co-workers
  • Perform clerical tasks and document critical communications in supervisor's absence
  • Maintain confidentiality of information and participate in on-call/holiday/weekend coverage
  • Demonstrate basic PC skills and assist with routine department functions
  • Work across modalities as assigned (levels 1-4) and participate in training and competency assessments What We're Looking For
  • Minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent; preferred: PBT (ASCP) or equivalent certification and completion of a CLA program
  • Immunization: Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination or waiver; PPD within 90 days or through TriCore; rubella, rubeola, varicella immunization if direct patient contact
  • General requirements: Valid driver’s license with a good driving record and lab-insurance eligibility; eligible to work in a health care facility per applicable law
  • Experience: Apprenticeship pathway available; candidates placed into CLA Levels 1-4 based on modalities completed; willingness to learn across multiple modalities
  • Availability: On-call, holidays, evenings, and weekends as needed
  • Basic PC literacy and ability to perform clerical and laboratory tasks Nice to Have
  • PBT (ASCP) or equivalent certification
  • Completion of a relevant Clinical Lab Assistant program or similar training
  • Specialized training such as N95 fit testing (where applicable) Compensation & Benefits
