About the Role John Carroll University’s Department of Psychology seeks an experienced behavior analyst to serve as Clinical Instructor. The Clinical Instructor will ensure adherence to professional, legal, and ethical standards governing behavior analysts, supervise Master’s in Applied Behavior Analysis fieldwork, and support students under the direction of the lead course faculty. This role involves onsite supervision and collaboration with the Fieldwork Coordinator, site personnel, and program leadership to develop students’ clinical judgment and competence. What You'll Do

  • Model professional behavior and standards of practice.
  • Utilize current evidence-based practices while teaching students in the clinical setting.
  • Establish rapport and maintain communication with the JCU Fieldwork Coordinator, students, and site personnel.
  • Participate in university orientation as required by John Carroll University.
  • Provide 25 hours direct supervision to the assigned student over the course of the semester (approximately 5 months).
  • Represent the John Carroll University professionally and appropriately at all times.
  • Provide ongoing verbal and/or written feedback to students on progress in the clinical setting using JCU supervision progress reports on a predetermined schedule set forth by the supervision coordinator.
  • Report to the Fieldwork Coordinator and/or Master’s in Applied Behavior Analysis Program Director as well as collaborate with the lead course faculty.
  • Performance evaluations are completed in accordance with provisions of the John Carroll University Master’s in Applied Behavior Analysis Fieldwork Handbook. What We're Looking For
  • Master’s degree.
  • BCBA certification, and state licensure (if applicable).
  • At least 3 years of clinical practice experience.
  • Meet all Supervisor Qualifications as set forth by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (if applicable).
  • Knowledge of current behavior analytic practices and assent-based practices; ability to obtain supervision/consultation as necessary before implementing new techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct behavior analytic practice ethically and with regard to client privacy (FERPA compliance). Responsibilities (Expanded under Qualifications)
  • Review course syllabi with students to understand assignments for the semester.
  • Complete student evaluations on monthly, bi-semester, semester basis.
  • Meet with the lead course instructor to review student evaluations to grow in teaching effectiveness.
  • Direct, instruct, and guide students in the clinical setting; assign weekly patient groups; assist in data collection and patient health assessment.
  • Facilitate development of students’ critical thinking, technical, and professional communication skills while maintaining patient safety and confidentiality.
  • Supervise administration of medications where applicable; delegate nursing tasks according to education and demonstrated competency.
  • Hold student pre- and post-clinical conferences; complete clinical evaluations (mid-term and final).
  • Maintain confidential records and FERPA-related privacy.
