About the Role The Clinical Cardiologist provides quality medical care to clinical patients, including interviewing, examining, and treating patients. The role emphasizes patient education, collaboration with physicians and staff, and participation in quality improvement and teaching activities to support high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
What You'll Do
- Provides medical patient care by interviewing, examining and treating clinical patients to meet their medical needs.
- Educates patients on wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials and resources to patients and families.
- Shares health care duties of patients with other physicians to ensure a physician is available at all times.
- Determines referrals and level of urgency of follow-up, based on examination and patient needs.
- Exercises final medical judgment in all issues of health care.
- Prescribes medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients.
- Orders studies, tests and ancillary services; documents all services in the patient medical record.
- Reviews long-term cases requiring ongoing medical attention; consults with Medical Director and other staff as needed.
- Participates in quality improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs established by hospital/clinic requirements.
- Oversees mid-level medical staff and nursing clinical staff as assigned.
- Assists in resolving patient complaints, requests and inquiries.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient information per federal guidelines.
- Participates in teaching sessions for hospital and medical staff, residents and/or medical students as assigned.
