Job title: Clinic Receptionist

About the Role Graduates24 has opportunities for Clinic Receptionists to support Dis-Chem Pharmacies. The role focuses on attending to patients both on the phone and in person, coordinating appointments and documentation, and contributing to the smooth running of the clinic while upholding quality patient care.

What You'll Do

  • Register patients according to established standards.
  • Assist patients in completing necessary medical forms including medical insurances.
  • Monitor and maintain clinical equipment, stationery and medications required.
  • Inform patients of clinic procedures and manage patient records.
  • Open new patient files according to standard procedures.
  • Ensure patient information is correct.
  • Process medical aid payments.
  • Move patients through appointments as scheduled.
  • Obtain medical reports if required.
  • Ensure the reception area is clean and maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Answer all incoming calls within a reasonable time according to Dis-Chem standards.
  • Use proper telephone etiquette when speaking with patients over the phone.
  • Provide relevant and accurate information to callers regarding their requests, questions or concerns.
  • Take down caller details on calls to the switchboard, email relevant staff, and confirm messages with the caller.
  • Verify caller contact details and ensure messages are transferred to the correct person.
  • Assist walk-in guests in reaching staff for meetings and/or deliveries.
  • Provide customers with area codes, work telephone numbers and other relevant information when requested.
  • Ensure customers, guests and callers receive relevant feedback within a timely manner regarding queries.
  • Help patients in distress by responding to emergencies.
  • Advise and assist patients regarding medical aid authorization procedures.
  • Follow up with patients regarding any requested feedback.

What We're Looking For

  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
  • South African citizen.
  • MIE, clear criminal and credit.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Deadline driven.
  • Follow and give oral and written instructions.

Nice to Have

  • Dedicated workstation – Sit at desk most of the day.
