About this role
Clinic Nurse – Blank Adolescent Clinic provides nursing care and education within Blank Children’s Adolescent Medicine, part of UnityPoint Health. This full-time role supports adolescent patients and families, assisting clinicians, performing procedures, and coordinating care.
What You'll Do
- Provide teaching and information to patients and families regarding health maintenance and illnesses, within scope/licensure or as directed by the provider.
- Document information in the patient’s electronic health record.
- Complete patient forms and requests for medical records/correspondence to be scanned into the EHR.
- Schedule referrals for specialist or outpatient services as requested by the provider.
- Complete forms or requisitions needed for referrals or lab testing.
- Assist the provider with examinations, procedures and emergencies.
- Provide and document home-care instructions and conduct follow-up calls per provider direction.
- Perform diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures as appropriate.
- Prepare for and assist with patient examinations, specimen collection, minor surgical procedures, and treatment, including administration of medications under direct supervision of the provider as appropriate to scope and licensure.
What We're Looking For
- Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Licensure: Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.
- Experience: Previous clinical experience in ambulatory clinic.
- Physical requirements: Level 3 Medium Work; ability to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
